EURECOM Students Visit the Oceanographic Museum

Mr. Robert Calcagno, Director General of the Institute of Oceanography, Albert I, Prince of Monaco Foundation, Mr. Christophe Pierre, Director of Electronic Communications and students of the 2017 EURECOM intake.

On Thursday 2 June, Ms. Mme Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, invited the 2017 intake of the EURECOM engineering school, of which she is patron, to visit the Oceanographic Museum, with the kind support of Mr. Robert Calcagno, Director General of the Institute of Oceanography, Albert I, Prince of Monaco Foundation.  The aim was to enable the students, many of whom are from abroad, to visit the iconic places of the Principality before they meet for their diploma awards ceremony and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of EURECOM in September 2017, in Monaco.

The Prince's Government has been an institutional member of EURECOM since 2013, through the intermediary of the Société Nationale de Financement (SNF).   At first, the partnership covered digital security of the Internet and networks, in cooperation with Monaco Telecom, which is also a member of the Institute.

Today, while continuing this cooperation in the area of security, EURECOM is assisting the Government with the Smart City project, with practical action on mobility, and the provision of effective infrastructure to encourage innovation.  The Institute is also involved in cooperation between the Government and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, with the aim of building a mobility laboratory in association with other members of the Institute, such as Orange and Mercury Telecom.

As a reminder, EURECOM's teaching and research activities are focused on digital security, communication systems and Data Science.
