Diplomatic relations established between the Principality of Monaco and the Federated States of Micronesia

On 17 July 2025, the Federated States of Micronesia became the 163rd country to have established diplomatic relations with the Principality of Monaco, following the signing of Joint Communiqués by the Permanent Representatives to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Jeem S. Lippwe and H.E. Isabelle Picco.

Micronesia is a federal island nation in the southwestern North Pacific Ocean, consisting of four states: Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. Fishing is the country's primary economic activity.

The Permanent Representatives discussed the United Nations Ocean Conference held in Nice last June, along with the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ) and its importance for marine protected areas. H.E. Isabelle Picco also discussed the work of the Monaco Scientific Centre, focusing on corals, ocean acidification, plastic pollution, and climate change.
