The Principality of Monaco is a recognised haven of peace. To guarantee this quality of life, almost 600 officers of the Police Department and more than 1000 video surveillance cameras contribute to this essential facet of common life. A constant presence on the ground, and close contact with the population, enable optimum security levels to be maintained which are never intrusive, guaranteeing respect for persons and property.
The police officers, recognised for their availibility and effectiveness, carry out various duties:
- Maintain a high level of security in the territory thanks to an appropriate and effective presence on the ground: see the role of the Urban Policing Division
- Ensure preservation of the quality of life and security at cultural and sporting events: see the role of the Events and Preservation of Quality of Life Division
- Carry out investigations and communicate the results to the Public Prosecution Department in the case of offences according to the Criminal Code: see the role of the Criminal Investigation Division
- Investigate cases relating to the arrival and establishment of foreigners in the country: see the role of the Administrative Police Division
- Patrols and ensures the general security of the ports, docks and heliport: see the role of the Marine and Airport Police
- At sea, police fisheries and shipping, carries out surveillance of territorial waters under Monegasque sovereignty: see the role of the Marine and Airport Police
- Maintain the level of security through tailored training, preventive and forward-looking security measures: see the role of the Administration and Training Division
