Diplomacy and International Presence

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was created in 2005, following a decision by H.S.H. Prince Rainier III. Since then, it has worked unceasingly to promote the spread of influence and the evolution of Monaco's image in the world by implementing the policies of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince.

In this way, Monaco's diplomatic presence has been enhanced by the nomination of several ambassadors, membership of numerous international bodies and the signature of many bilateral conventions with countries with which Monaco enjoys close relations.

Monaco takes part in many international conferences. Its neutrality and the 140 different nationalities who live in harmony there and work to develop the country help to make its position known. But the most noticeable progression of Monaco's influence is due to Prince Albert II of Monaco's strong commitment to issues of sustainable development and cooperation on the international scene.

It is in this context that the Monegasque Government implements the Sovereign Prince's policies through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
