Monaco and the future of sport
Ethics and the education are among the most central values in sport. This has led the Principality to engage actively in the fight against doping.
In view of this, Monaco adopted the Copenhagen Declaration in March 2003, recognising and applying the texts related to the fight against doping, in particular the World Anti-Doping Code. In 2004, it ratified the Council of Europe's Anti-Doping Convention (1989). In 2007, it also ratified UNESCO's International Convention against Doping in Sport, adopted in Paris on 19th October 2005.
To implement its policy against doping, and, in particular, to carry out doping controls on Monegasque territory, a Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee was established by Ordonnance n. 15.656 du 07/02/2003 instituant un Comité monégasque antidopage
Many activities are also undertaken with young people and associations to inform sportspeople and raise their awareness of the risks of doping.
In addition, the Monegasque law association "Peace & Sport," which is under the High Patronage of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, works for a better world by peace through sport. Click here to find out more
