Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, 30 and 31 October - The Principality puts sustainable development at the heart of the debate

The Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, to be hosted by the Principality of Monaco on 30 and 31 October, is an opportunity to initiate discussion on the future prospects of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), with particular regard to promoting all facets of sustainable development, combining the economic, social and environmental aspects.

The Prince's Government has thus decided to focus on a theme that it considers particularly important – protecting the environment – having chosen to approach this subject in a broad, multidimensional way from the viewpoint of "Reconciling Humanity and the Planet - Prospects in the French-Speaking World on the Eve of the 50th Anniversary of the OIF."

This proposal was submitted by Gilles Tonelli, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, to the 35th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, held in Yerevan in October 2018, and approved by the Member States and Governments of La Francophonie.

This topic will be addressed by the presentation by the Prince's Government of a draft resolution on preserving the oceans and by holding a parallel event on sustainable tourism, in partnership with the Institute of La Francophonie for Sustainable Development.
