Mr. David Ginola was admitted urgently to the Monaco Cardiothoracic Centre

Mr. David Ginola was admitted urgently to the Monaco Cardiothoracic Centre on Thursday 20 May, in the late afternoon.

He presented with a "sudden death" syndrome in Mandelieu, for which he was given immediate emergency treatment with cardiac massage, which was effective.

He was then treated by members of the fire service, who applied an external defibrillator several times, following which Mr. Ginola was transferred to the Monaco Cardiothoracic Centre in the Fire and Emergency Services' Civil Security helicopter.

Note that the Cardiothoracic Centre plays an active part in public service and deals with any emergencies referred to it, whether by the SAMU (emergency medical service) or the fire service, from Corsica or throughout the PACA region.

On admission, he was intubated and placed on a ventilator.  He underwent coronary angiography, which showed multiple lesions that were considered inaccessible by angioplasty.  The decision was made to operate immediately to avoid a recurrence of arrhythmias and myocardial infarction.

Professor Dreyfus and his team carried out a quadruple bypass surgery from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Mr. Ginola is now feeling well, with normal cardiac function and no infarction.  He is no longer intubated, is conscious and neurologically normal, i.e. with no after-effects.

He will remain at the Cardiothoracic Centre for ten days, and will soon be able to resume a normal active life.
