Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, pays working visit to Principality
A European Commission delegation led by Mr Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President for Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, visited Monaco on 27 and 28 September at the invitation of H.E. the Minister of State.
The visit took place in the context of the negotiations to conclude an association agreement between the European Union and the Principality, which began in March 2015. Mr Šefčovič was recently appointed as the new political interlocutor for the Monegasque authorities in these discussions.
During the visit, Mr Šefčovič had an audience with H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and a working lunch was organised with H.E. the Minister of State and all of the Principality’s ministers.
The delegation also spoke to the President and members of the National Council.
Mr Šefčovič and his delegation attended a presentation on the major urban development projects underway in the Principality.
They also visited 3X Engineering, an international leader in the field of pipeline repair using innovative technology.
The next few months will be a decisive phase in the negotiations. The purpose of the European Commission Vice-President’s visit was to familiarise him with the geographical, economic and social realities of the Principality.
