A Bill on the Protection of Patients' Health in Healthcare Facilities is Submitted to the National Council
The quality of healthcare in Monaco is internationally renowned. To maintain this high standard, the Prince's Government devotes almost 8% of the State budget to public health policies every year.
Quality and safety of care are also central to the major projects that are under way - the modernisation of the hospital and the organisation of the health care system, as well as the promising development of e-health in the Principality.
In terms of legislation, there was previously no text specifically devoted to nosocomial infections, i.e. infections contracted by patients during their treatment in a healthcare establishment.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs has drawn up a Bill with the two-fold aim of implementing preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of nosocomial infections and providing for measures to support patients in the event of litigation, so they are able to assert their rights.
This Bill, which was drawn up in conjunction with the Principality's healthcare establishments and after consultation with the High Commissioner for the Protection of Rights, Liberties and for Mediation, has just been submitted to the National Council.
