Public Aid for Development and International Cooperation
H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince Albert II considers of particular importance the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations in September 2015.
The Government of the Principality’s international development policy, which prioritises combatting poverty, is especially interested in the first eight SDGs and their focus on people, through with four main themes:
- Food security
- Socio-economic inclusion
The Prince’s Government’s Public Aid for Development, implemented by the Department of International Cooperation, supports more than 130 projects every year in 11 partner countries, primarily least developed countries.
Almost all Monegasque aid is allocated in the form of donations.
The most vulnerable populations are the core target of Monaco’s international development policy. They include children, women, people with disabilities, refugees and so on.
There is also a focus on emergency humanitarian aid, given in response to various crises around the world (natural disasters and political conflicts).
Public Aid for Development has been constantly developping since 2015.
