The Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr Pierre-André Chiappori, visited Japan from 16 to 21 April 2025.

While in Tokyo, he met with the Vice-Minister of Finance, followed by the head of Financial Services. Discussions focused on the international situation and the economic strengths of both countries. Mr Chiappori raised the subject of the tax agreement currently under discussion between Monaco and Japan, aimed at facilitating trade and the establishment of new residents, and said he hoped the agreement would be signed soon.

He was later hosted by the Columbia University Alumni Association of Japan, the Ambassador of France, the University of Tokyo, the Director of Crédit Agricole Japan and the Mitsubishi Research Institute.

He also delivered a presentation about Monaco’s economy at France’s Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

He travelled to Osaka to visit Expo 2025 where he visited several pavilions, including Japan, Mitsubishi, France, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore and San Marino. At the Saudi Arabia pavilion, he met with the organisers of the next World Expo, which will be held in this country in 2030.

He had a lengthy visit at the Monaco pavilion and spoke with his teams. He spoke with Japanese guests, partners from the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority and the French Chamber of Commerce in Osaka, who were invited to a cocktail reception timed with the Minister’s visit.

The World’s Fair is a wonderful opportunity to promote Monaco to visitors from all backgrounds. This goal has been accomplished with flying colours thanks to the hard work of the pavilion’s team.” highlighted Mr Chiappori at the reception.
