Preventative Work on the Rainwater Network in the Avenue des Spélugues

Following on from the work on the rainwater network in the Avenue des Spélugues that was carried out in 2017, a second phase will be undertaken.  This will make it possible to protect the lower part between the Fairmont Hotel and the Grimaldi Forum against flooding in times of major storms.  In recent years, the ground floor and basements of buildings in this area have suffered significant damage during heavy rainfall.

"We are going to undertake three operations in one - increasing the size of the rainwater network, separating it from the wastewater network and renovating the public lighting network, which dates back to the 1950s, using LED technology," explained Philippe Porcu, head of the Sanitation section at the Department of Urban Amenities.

The phasing of this essential work and its effect on the public highway have been designed to limit the impact on traffic as far as possible.  Thus, the two traffic lanes and pedestrian walkways will be maintained.

This work will start in the coming days and is expected to last until the end of the year.
