The Principality of Monaco has always made the quality of life of its seniors a priority.

The Prince's Government, in close collaboration with the departments of the City Hall, has been pursuing a very active public policy with regard to the elderly for many years.

A review was launched in May 2019 to improve the conditions in which elderly people are cared for at home after hospitalisation, in order to avoid successive readmissions to hospital, which may eventually lead to a loss of autonomy, requiring placement in a care home for the elderly.

Better exchange of information between all the health care establishments and services involved in the temporary hospitalisation of elderly people was unanimously called for at the working meetings held with all the stakeholders.

The aim is nevertheless for this exchange of information and collaboration to be undertaken by means of dedicated digital tools.

Thus, a meeting was held today at the Ministry of State, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Country Chief Digital Officer and the various partners involved in the care of the elderly, with a view to launching an "Autonomy Platform," focusing on the following objectives:

- structuring and digitising communication between the various players;

- sharing information related to elderly persons in real time.

This project, which is a priority for the Prince's Government, will continue in the coming weeks in the form of specific workshops, making it possible to develop the operational, management and administrative processes of this platform, which is due to be launched in late 2021.
