Ettore Spalletti at the Villa Paloma - New National Museum of Monaco

NMNM/Werner J. Hannapel, VG-Bildkunst Bonn 2019

Until 3 November 2019, the New National Museum is hosting a project by Ettore Spalletti (who was born in Cappelle sul Tavo in the province of Pescara, Italy, in 1940).  This project was created especially for the various areas of the Villa Paloma, and consists of a trail of thirty works, divided into seven different environments on the three floors of the building.

Spalletti's work is inspired by the landscapes of his native region, between the Adriatic Sea and the mountains of Abruzzo, and has a limited chromatic palette of pastel tones - white, grey, pink and azure blue – with the addition of gold.  It is contemplative and meditative, and also ascetic, immersing the visitor, who becomes the central pivot, in a poetic world of calm, silence and serenity.

Ettore Spalletti himself helped with the installation of these "atmospheres" in the rooms of the Museum, in which the lighting has been specially modified.  The works create a dialogue with space, both inside and out, and are intended to be a tribute to the light and beauty that surround us.

A previously unseen hour-and-a-half documentary devoted to the artist, screened in the Villa Paloma's video room, is an opportunity for the public to find out about his daily life and work.

Finally, note that admission is free on Tuesdays between 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m., and every Sunday, and guided tours are available for the public.
