Anti-money laundering: the Prince’s Government welcomes the FATF’s acknowledgement of progress made by Monaco in its first report since the country was greylisted in June 2024

The Principality was recently invited to submit its first progress report to the FATF, in line with the calendar adopted in June 2024 after it was placed on the grey list.
On 13 June 2025, following the joint FATF-MONEYVAL plenary meeting in Strasbourg, the FATF acknowledged the progress made by Monaco, noting that the country had already moved to improve its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML-CFT) regime by adopting many of the measures set out in its action plan, some of which were due for implementation during this cycle.
All of the actions due to be implemented by the current deadline were found to have been broadly addressed, while Monaco was deemed to have made real progress on other measures with later deadlines under the action plan agreed with the FATF.

The Prince’s Government would like to thank the FATF for its constructive dialogue and the efforts of its staff, including those at the secretariat and all those who worked on the first progress report, and is grateful for the FATF’s acknowledgement of the progress made by Monaco in improving its national AML-CFT system. Thanks are also due to the MONEYVAL Committee and its secretariat for their constant support.

Monaco’s remarkable progress in this first phase was made possible by the diligent efforts of all of the Monegasque authorities and departments concerned, led by the Committee for the Coordination and Monitoring of the National Strategy to Combat Money Laundering, the Financing of Terrorism, the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Corruption.

The Principality is fully committed to addressing all of the remaining measures, while doing everything in its power to implement the action plan and ensure Monaco can be removed from the FATF grey list within the planned timeframe.
