Annual Energy Transition Conference
On Friday 29 March, the Annual Energy Transition Conference was held at the Yacht Club de Monaco. It was attended by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, H.E. the Minister of State, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, and Julien Vidal, the evening’s guest of honour.
The evening comprised a series of highlights, including a presentation on how to be an eco-citizen by Julien Vidal, a review of year 1 of the National Pact and prospects for the development of the initiative, the award of the Energy Transition Prizes to three winners in recognition of their best practices (see Press Kit) and a strong announcement that Decathlon Monaco will no longer be selling single-use plastic bottles of water.
H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince drew the evening to a close by reminding the audience that: “To bring together goodwill for the sake of our shared future, we must of course reach beyond international bodies, beyond government decisions, beyond all of these projects we are undertaking. We must involve everyone, as we are doing today. We must identify, suggest and promote concrete, shared solutions, like those put forward by the winners that we have just honoured [...] First and foremost, and more broadly, I’m thinking of the invention of a new, more innovative, more principled, more sustainable model for the sake of the planet and quality of life, for the sake of our contemporaries, and for the sake of our children.”
