8th China Night

On 28 September, the 8th China Night was held on the margins of the Monaco Yacht Show, under the aegis of Monaco’s Embassy in China.

The evening, full of friendship, music and sharing, brought together Chinese and Monegasque personalities to celebrate the relationship between Monaco and China.

After a few words of welcome from Monaco’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Ms Marie-Pascale Boisson, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadei highlighted the links which have been created between the two countries in a variety of cultural, economic and environmental fields since bilateral relations were established. She noted some of the highlights of the last five years: the State Visit of Prince Albert II to Beijing in 2018, the State Visit of President Xi Jinping to the Principality in 2019 and the Sovereign Prince’s participation in the Beijing Winter Olympics in February this year.

In his speech, China’s Ambassador to France and Monaco, H.E. Mr Lu Shaye, emphasised that China Night contributed to the promotion of interpersonal and cultural exchanges between China and Monaco. He also discussed the gradual consolidation of bilateral relations, noting the increase in trade and the common goals being pursued on ecological and environmental issues. He expressed his wish that the two countries would continue to work to strengthen their exchanges in the fields of culture and tourism.

During the reception, a number of institutional partners1 spoke about Monaco’s position in the yachting and superyachting world, and also highlighted the Principality’s advantages and prospects in the areas of attractiveness, the digital transition and tourism. A spotlight was also shone on the actions of the Prince Albert II Foundation’s Representative Office in Beijing, as the symbol of productive cooperation on protecting the environment and biodiversity.
