On Monday 25 June, 36 children aged 10 and 11 from the Principality’s primary schools took part in the Monegasque Final of the Road Safety Competition at the Route de la Turbie Leisure Centre, organised by the Monegasque Road Safety Association. Earlier, a total of 900 pupils had participated in the written and practical tests focused on road safety and accident prevention.

The competitors in the final took a written test then completed a special course lined with road signs that they might encounter when travelling by bike. Each child was monitored and graded by a police officer who identified any breaches of road safety rules.

The prizes awarded to the winners were donated by the Automobile Club of Monaco, the Department of Education, Youth and Sport and the Monegasque Road Safety Association. École Saint-Charles won the cup for the best school.

The top three winners then represented Monaco in the regional final in Saint-Laurent du Var on 27 June, with the best-placed pupil from the Principality finishing 21st out of 50.
