Baccalaureate and Brevet de Technicien Supérieur 2018 A resounding success in main examination round

The Baccalaureate and Brevet de Technicien Supérieur results for 2018 have confirmed the quality of support offered to pupils and students in the Principality as they prepared for their examinations. 

An overall pass rate of 97.3% was recorded in the main round of examinations for the general, technology and vocational courses, with 369 out of 450 candidates achieving honours, including 69 highest honours, 141 high honours and 159 honours. 

  • In the general baccalaureates, pupils at Lycée Albert I and Lycée François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré recorded a pass rate of 97.9% (2.6% higher than last year), and 236 out of 281 candidates achieved honours (56 highest honours, 87 high honours and 93 honours). 
  • In the technology baccalaureates, pupils at Lycée Albert I and Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School also performed exceptionally well, with a pass rate of 100% and 49 honours, including eight highest honours. 
  • In the vocational baccalaureates, 94.2% of pupils taking the hospitality, industrial and tertiary options at Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School passed their examinations, with 84 out of 104 candidates achieving honours, including five highest honours, 35 high honours and 44 honours. 

Similar success was achieved in the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) examinations where the overall pass rate was 94.8%, an increase of 6.4% compared with 2017. 

  • The pass rate for the BTS Accounting and BTS Assistant Manager courses at Lycée Albert I was 100%. The school also provided the top of class within the Nice Education Authority for each of these examinations, a remarkable result. 

Monaco’s Vocational and Catering School also achieved very good results, with a 100% pass rate for the BTS in Culinary and Table Arts. In the BTS Marketing and Management course, 12 out of 14 students achieved a pass, resulting in an overall pass rate of 91.3%, an increase of more than 13% compared with last year. 

The Prince’s Government offers its warmest congratulations to all those who passed their examinations. 

These excellent results are a reward for the hard work and commitment shown by pupils. 

Once again, they illustrate the Government’s proactive and ambitious education policy and the decisive action taken by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport in implementing it. 

The results highlight the quality of the teaching delivered and are also a product of the effective and supportive efforts of the entire education community in the Principality’s upper secondary schools in service of pupils.
