Visit to Japan by Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, acting Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation
Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, acting Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, is visiting Japan in parallel with Monaco Day, celebrated on 28 June at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.
During the first part of her trip, she travelled to Tokyo where she met with Mr Hisayuki Fujii, Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs. Their discussions focused on global affairs, relations between Japan and Monaco and the participation of the Principality in Expo 2025 Osaka. The two ministers welcomed the friendship between their countries based on shared values. Ms Berro-Amadeï also addressed the double tax agreement currently under discussion.
The Minister then met with Mr Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). After presenting Monaco’s development aid policy, Ms Berro-Amadeï spoke about partnership opportunities with Japan in pressing areas common to both countries such as healthcare, education and child welfare.
Ms Berro-Amadeï also met with Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of the Nippon Foundation *(now Honorary Chair), a non-profit working in the fields of health, education, environmental protection and economic development. Like Monaco, this Foundation works with poor populations in Sub-Saharan Africa and other locations.
