The Embassy of Monaco in Brussels celebrates the 20th anniversary of the accession of H.S.H. Prince Albert II
A few days ago, the Embassy of Monaco to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg celebrated the 20th anniversary of the accession of H.S.H. Prince Albert II with a reception held at the Embassy’s headquarters in Brussels.
More than 150 guests attended the event, including numerous representatives of Belgian institutions, the European Union, various international organisations based in Brussels and The Hague, as well as ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps. They were joined by several prominent figures from civil society, alongside Monegasque nationals and native-born residents living in Belgium.
In his address, H.E. Mr Frédéric LABARRÈRE highlighted the major achievements of the Principality over the past two decades, in line with the vision and direction set by the Sovereign Prince. Regarding international matters, he recalled the steadfast commitment of H.S.H. Prince Albert II to environmental protection and ocean preservation, recently illustrated by the Blue Economy and Finance Forum held in Monaco last June. Guests were also given insight into the actions undertaken by the Prince’s Government in support of the most vulnerable populations, made possible by the Principality’s ongoing reinforcement of official development assistance to its partner countries.
In terms of attractiveness, the titles of “World Capital of Sport 2025” and “Best European Tourist Destination 2025”, recently awarded to the Principality, were mentioned as marks of excellence for the “Monaco Destination” – which was also showcased during the event through a display of vintage and modern posters of Monaco, as well as a cocktail bar featuring drinks prepared with Monegasque products.
Finally, in his capacity as Head of Monaco’s Mission to the European Union, the Ambassador reviewed the current state of relations with EU institutions, which remain strong and rooted in shared values. At a time of global instability, he also reaffirmed Monaco’s unwavering support for multilateralism, respect for human dignity and the sovereign equality of all States.
