Monaco Fire and Emergency Service Provides Reinforcement in the Alpes-Maritimes
Following two episodes of heavy rain that affected the south-east of France, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of the Alpes-Maritimes requested pumping and dewatering resources from the Principality's Fire and Emergency Service, as reinforcement.
With the approval of the Prince's Government, a detachment of five men led by an officer or major, plus an all-terrain liaison vehicle (ATV) and a Dewatering Unit consisting of high capacity electric pumps, had previously intervened on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 November 2019 with regard to pumping operations on the Tourrades industrial estate in Mandelieu.
Following the latest incidence of inclement weather this weekend, new operations were undertaken yesterday in the basements of a residence in Cannes-la-Bocca and are continuing today in flooded residences in the town of Vallauris. This assistance is expected to end today.
