Information and awareness message regarding fraudulent phone calls
Currently, many residents of the Principality of Monaco are the recipients of fraudulent phone calls.
Callers using foreign phone numbers pretend to be police officers or lawyers and ‘inform’ victims that a member of their family has been involved in a serious traffic accident.
They ask that a large amount of money in cash, jewellery, etc. be paid to put an end to supposed legal proceedings.
This is a scam with the aim of swindling potential victims who are willing to do as requested.
- Recipients of such calls are asked to:
- IGNORE THE CALL
- REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH THE CALLER’S REQUEST
