RAMOGE Agreement celebrates 40th anniversary
On Tuesday 26 April, the RAMOGE Agreement launched its fortieth anniversary celebrations in the presence of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, Mr Gian Luca Galletti, Italian Minister of the Environment, H.E. Mr Serge Telle, Minister of State, H.E. Mr Hadelin de la Tour du Pin, France’s Ambassador to Monaco and numerous other personalities. Senior authorities from the countries which are party to the Agreement visited specialist pollution clean-up ships moored at the Port Hercule floating sea wall.
On this occasion, the Maritime Prefect for the Mediterranean, Vice Admiral Yves Joly,
Ms Maria Carmela Giarratano, Director General at the Italian Ministry of the Environment and
Mr Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, signed the updated RAMOGEPOL Agreement. A paragraph on safe navigation has been added to the original text to take account of any observation of drifting objects or cetaceans.
On Wednesday 27 April, the RAMOGEPOL 2016 marine pollution control exercise was held in Monegasque waters by the Maritime Prefecture for the Mediterranean, with the deployment of pollution control resources by the three member countries.
