A delegation led by Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and acting Minister of State, represented the Principality of Monaco at the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp on 27 January 2025.

More than 50 heads of state and government and representatives from international bodies arrived from all over the world to take part in the ceremony held in front of the “Gate of Death”, the entrance to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.

The atmosphere was contemplative, charged with emotion and marked by deep concern over the resurgence of antisemitism, as the delegations listened to the poignant accounts of survivors who were able to make the journey.

The survivors and delegation leaders then left candles to honour the 1.5 million men, women and children exterminated at the camp between 1940 and 1945.
