Diplomacy: new Ambassadors accredited Bosnia-Herzegovina - Iceland - Netherlands - Pakistan

On Wednesday 17 May, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Marie-Catherine CARUSO-RAVERA, Director of Diplomatic and Consular Relations, hosted a lunch reception at the Hôtel Hermitage, which was attended by H.E. Ms Bojana KONDIC-PANIC, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bosnia-Herzegovina, H.E. Ms Unnur ORRADOTTIR RAMETTE, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iceland, H.E. Mr Jan Théophile VERSTEEG, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and H.E. Mr Asim Iftikhar AHMAD, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the morning, these diplomats presented their Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince.

With a masters in economics, H.E. Ms Bojana KONDIC-PANIC joined the municipal administration of Laktaši in 2012, and became Head of the Department for Communal Affairs in 2015.  Two years later, she was appointed the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, then Senior Advisor, before being named Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina to France in September 2021.

H.E. Ms Unnur ORRADOTTIR RAMETTE began her career at the Icelandic Embassy in Paris in 1997, as a Trade Advisor.  She then joined the Department of Trade and Economy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Reykjavik, becoming Director General. From 2018, she was appointed Iceland’s Ambassador to several African countries (Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, Ethiopia, and Malawi), then to France, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, and Andorra in 2020.

H.E. Mr Jan Théophile VERSTEEG joined the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. He was successively appointed Advisor at the Dutch Embassy to Spain, then Diplomatic Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister in The Hague, and Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Council in 2009. Since 2022, he has been the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to France, after previously serving as Ambassador to Greece and Spain.

A career diplomat, H.E. Mr Asim Iftikhar AHMAD joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in 1995, and rose through the ranks before being appointed Deputy Secretary General for the United Nations and Economic Diplomacy in 2022. During his career, he has served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Thailand, and the Permanent Representative to the UN Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). He is currently Pakistan’s Ambassador to France.
