The Government on Twitter
The Government on Twitter: alternative methods of communication
In order to establish a presence among new media and to continue rendering its communication more open and modern, the Government decided to set up a profile on the social networking site, Twitter.
The creation of this account was preceded by an institutional communication campaign launched in 2010 and is part of the development of new digital governance methods.
Consequently, Twitter is part of the effort towards the Government’s communication issues and the promotion of its work.
Twitter is also part of the Government’s willingness to “prove” what real life is like in the Principality of Monaco.
Twitter is integrated with other digital systems such as: the website, MC Channel.
The Government’s Twitter account can be reached at the following address: www.twitter.com/gvtMonaco .
An English version is also available on www.twitter.com/govMonaco .
Why did you decide to go on Twitter?
“Because the Principality is a State which is committed to dialogue and transparency. The presence of the Government of Monaco on Twitter is a way of responding to the questions that you have concerning the Principality.”
“This Twitter account belongs to the Prince’s Government, not the Palace. The Minister of State, advisors and services tweet on behalf of the Government and the Principality.”
What do we post on Twitter?
“We post all information concerning the Principality’s political, diplomatic and economic news, as well as anything else that seems interesting and that shares Monegasque identity with the masses.”
What do we not post on Twitter?
“We do not discuss news pertaining to the Prince’s family or sports news.”
