The day after a joint press conference by the Ministry of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development and the Digital Transition Office, Minister Marie-Pierre Gramaglia presented a broad outline of the Prince’s Government’s mobility policy to members of the Economic and Social Council on Thursday.

At the invitation of the Council’s President, Caroline Rougaignon-Verdin, Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, accompanied by Séverine Canis, Director of Forward Studies, Urban Planning and Mobility, reminded the audience that mobility was a key concern for the Government, which, as it continues to deliberate, was listening to the views of civil society and economic and social stakeholders, who are all involved in the mobility challenge. Her message was duly heard by the attendees representing employees, employers, the liberal professions, the healthcare sector, accountants and the legal profession, since they can also help to shape these new tools to promote soft mobility.

The Minister was extremely clear on the target that the Government is working towards: reducing car traffic by 20% by 2030 through the implementation of digital tools, information and support. The aim is to make it easier for everyone to get around Monaco by tailoring each journey to the individual.

Marie-Pierre Gramaglia then covered the measures being considered in the short and medium terms, such as the introduction of car parks at the border, improvements to the TER regional rail service, and expansion of teleworking. Finally, on support measures, she discussed the introduction of Government and Corporate Travel Plans and car-sharing, the multimodal pass to be launched next year, and improvements to road accessibility.
