Results of the Monaco Humanitarian Collective: 272 Children Treated Since the Start of the Project

On Friday 15 January, members of the Monaco Humanitarian Collective (associations, health centres, the Monegasque Red Cross and the Prince's Government) gathered at their annual meeting.  The Collective's results are very positive.  Since the project began in 2008, 272 children, mostly from the African continent, have been operated on for conditions that are inoperable in their own country.

At this meeting, the special character of 2015 was highlighted by the Department of International Cooperation, which directs the project.  Forty-four children were treated (16 more than in 2014).

This treatment was made possible thanks to the partner healthcare centres (Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Centre, the Princess Grace Hospital and the Monegasque Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery), the two volunteer frameworks responsible for arranging surgery (Rencontres Africaines and the Monegasque Red Cross) and the Aviation Without Borders association.

H.E. Mr. Philippe Narmino, Vice-President of the Monegasque Red Cross, who is in charge of managing the Collective's funds, reiterated that the total donations for 2015 amounted to more than 440,000 euros.  T.S.H. the Prince and Princess of Monaco were the main donors.  Also of note among the loyal sponsors were Children & Future, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Pagani Elia association, St Vincent de Paul and the Prince's Government.

This year, the coordinators of Monaco Humanitarian Collective (MCH) in Burkina Faso and Senegal were also present, and had the opportunity of talking to all the members.

Finally, the support of footballer Olivier Giroud, an MCH Ambassador, was mentioned;  in particular, his involvement in the crowdfunding campaign #SaveNato, organised in December 2015.
