Rachid Saihi, a young beneficiary of the AMSAT cookery workshop*, which is supported by the Prince's Government, has won 1st prize in the "Assiette Gourm’Hand " international cookery competition. He was received at the Elysée Palace, where the prize was presented to him by François Hollande, Honorary President of the contest.
Fourteen teams, each comprised of two chefs, took part in the 13th "Assiette Gourm’Hand" competition in November 2015. Each team consisted of one person with a mental disability and their trainer. The teams competed on the theme of "Fillet of pout with two accompaniments."
The prize was won by the Moroccan team, made up of young Rachid Saihi, who has Down's Syndrome, and Khadija Sebbah, head of cookery teaching at the AMSAT* association in Rabat, for their "poached pout, couscous with lobster broth, spinach and leeks with preserved lemons."
After being congratulated by François Holland, Rachid and Khadija attended a cookery course in the kitchens of the Elysée Palace, supervised by Guillaume Gomez, Head Chef at the Elysée Palace and Best Artisan in France.
