Visit of a delegation of Council of Europe experts on action against violence towards women and domestic violence (GREVIO)

A delegation from the Group of experts at the Council of Europe on action against violence towards women and domestic violence carried out an evaluation visit from 2 to 5 October 2023 in Monaco.

Monaco ratified the Council of Europe Convention on this subject in 2014. The evaluation cycle carried out in the Principality looked at the national laws and policies offering ‘support, protection and justice to women who are victims of violence’.

On 2 October, the experts organised an opening session in the Rainier III Auditorium, led by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and President of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights.

At the request of the experts, the following met together for the occasion: the Inter-Ministerial Delegate of the Committee for the Protection Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights, the representatives of the aforementioned bodies, of the Ministry of Interior, of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Princess Grace Hospital, IMSEE, the Department of Legal Affairs and the Department of Justice.

This session enabled participants to discuss with the Council of Europe experts the implementation in the Principality of the provisions of the Convention on the struggle against violence towards women and domestic violence.

The GREVIO Delegation then organised interviews with the administrative services, civil society and the High Commissioner for the Protection of Rights, Liberties and for Mediation.

GREVIO expects to publish its report on Monaco in June 2024.
