UNITED NATIONS – Monaco reaffirms support for the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
At the Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea held from 10 to 14 June 2024, Mr Florian Botto, First Secretary at Monaco’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations reaffirmed the Principality’s wholehearted support for the protection of the ocean and its resources, for the fight against climate change, and for science.
Monaco is the first European nation to have ratified the Agreement on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity last May, demonstrating its full commitment to a future where the oceans are adequately protected.
The Principality will host the Blue Economy and Finance Forum on 7–8 June 2025, scheduled prior to the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 on ‘Life below water’.
