The documentary 'Rainier III par lui-même' screened at the CINEMANIA Festival in Montreal

On 8 November 2023, Mr Jean-Philippe Bertani, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Monaco Embassy to the USA and Canada, travelled to Montreal to present Yann-Antony Noghes' documentary ‘Rainier III par lui-même’ at the 29th edition of the CINEMANIA Festival. The screening was held at the Cinémathèque québécoise.

Before the screening, Mr Jean-Philippe Bertani gave the audience an insight into the background to this film, commissioned by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie to mark the centenary of her father's birth, and explained the process the director had to go through to ensure that this portrayal, narrated in the first person, was as authentic and sincere as possible.

This is the second time that the Embassy of Monaco in Canada has participated in CINEMANIA, which last year presented a documentary on Prince Albert I by Yann Antony Noghes.

Established in 1995, CINEMANIA is the world's largest international festival of French-language cinema; every year, around sixty films, including short films and documentaries from Francophone countries, are shown in Montreal's major cinemas. Over the course of 12 days, approximately 100 000 spectators attend daily previews and round-table discussions with the leading French-language directors and actors.
