Monaco takes part in the first Ukraine Peace Summit in Bürgenstock, Switzerland
On 15–16 June the Principality of Monaco took part in the first Ukraine Peace Conference organised by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine in Bürgenstock near Lucerne (Switzerland).
Represented by Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, accompanied by H.E. Ms Carole Lanteri, Ambassador to the Swiss Federal Council, the Principality was among the 100 countries and international organisations that responded to the invitation. Some fifty Heads of State and Government from all continents attended the event, the objective of which was to give impetus to the peace process, instil confidence and provide visibility for what comes next and how Russia can be involved.
Discussions focused on three main areas that represent major global challenges:
- Nuclear safety
- Food security
- The human dimension of the conflict (forced displacement of populations, including children, prisoners of war)
At the end of the Summit, the countries adopted a declaration reaffirming the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as the consensus that emerged from discussions regarding the three areas mentioned. The participants agreed to continue efforts.
On the sidelines of this Summit, Ms Berro-Amadeï met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr Dmytro Kuleba, who thanked the Principality for its bilateral and multilateral support.
