Diplomacy: accreditation of new ambassadors from El Salvador – Cyprus – Mexico – Vietnam

On Tuesday 3 May, at a lunch held at the Hotel Hermitage, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, received H.E. Ms Lorena Sol de Pool, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of El Salvador; H.E. Mr Georgios Chacalli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus; H.E. Ms Blanca Elena Jimenez Cisneros, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico; and H.E. Mr Toan Thang Dinh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

H.E. Ms Lorena SOL DE POOL, who holds a doctorate in law, began her diplomatic career in 1995, taking up post as El Salvador’s Consul in Boston, then Washington and New York. She subsequently became Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) and UNESCO, and currently serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of El Salvador to France.

H.E. Mr Georgios CHACALLI joined the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989 and is now Cyprus’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Monaco as well as ten other countries, including Hungary, Sweden, the United States and France. In between times, he held senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director of European Union Affairs and Political Director for Multilateral and Bilateral Relations.

H.E. Ms Blanca Elena JIMENEZ CISNEROS is an expert in the fields of environmental engineering, water management, climate change and scientific diplomacy. Having served as Director of the Division of Water Sciences at UNESCO and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and authored more than 500 articles, in 2021 she became Mexico’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France.

H.E. Mr. Toan Thang DINH joined the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and in 2010 became Minister-Counsellor and then Minister at the Vietnamese Embassy in France. He has also served in the Foreign Policy Planning Department and as Director-General of the Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is currently Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to France, Portugal, the Principality of Andorra and the Central African Republic.
