Yesterday, at a press conference held in Milan’s Palazzo Guireconsulti, not far from the city’s famous Duomo, Tournament Director Željko Franulović presented the next Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters competition.

Organised by the Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis (SMETT), and scheduled to be held from 11 to 19 April 2020 on the renowned clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the first European tournament in the prestigious ATP Tour Masters 1000 series.

I have been watching with great interest the successes of Italian tennis, with Fabio Fognini and Matteo Berrettini leading the charge. Following our tournament, Matteo had a fantastic season, reaching the semi-finals of the US Open. And we mustn’t forget the promising young Italian player Jannik Sinner, who is blossoming,” said Željko Franulović during his presentation in Milan. The Tournament Director also noted the genuine enthusiasm of audiences in Italy.

The 114th tournament will kick off on Friday 10 April 2020, in the presence of 2019 winner Fabio Fognini, with the draw to determine the final table.

Fognini won his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title by securing a victory in two sets (6–3, 6–4) in an unprecedented final against Dusan Lajovic from Serbia. He lifted the Prince’s Cup 58 years after Nicola Pietrangeli, the last Italian to win in the Principality.

Tennis fans take note: the tournament is scheduled for 11 to 19 April 2020 and you are advised to book your tickets as soon as possible to secure the best remaining spots. The first weekend of the tournament will coincide with Easter. Bookings should be made via the official website (www.rolexmontecarlomasters.mc ).
