Rail link interrupted certain evenings between Nice and Ventimiglia: the Prince’s Government requests an improvement in service
The SNCF has just informed the public that construction and maintenance work will significantly alter Nice <--> Ventimiglia TER train services from 15 September 2024 to 26 June 2025 inclusive. In particular, the service will no longer operate between the hours of 9 pm and 6 am from Sunday to Thursday. The Prince’s Government is concerned about the significant repercussions that these changes will have on the many employees, event professionals, visitors and tourists who travel to and from Monaco in the evening during this time.
Aside from a special coach service from Monaco to Nice for SNCF travel card holders only, no other solution is available for employees who travel to and from Monaco daily for work.
While attending his first private session with the elected members of the National Council, the Minister of State said he was “deeply shocked to read that trains would no longer stop in Monaco from 9 pm onwards. This is unacceptable. [...] We need to be respected and granted a certain quality of service; not only be seen as silent partners”.
While the Principality welcomes the scope of the work announced, which is aimed at improving service, the Government has requested an emergency meeting with SNCF Réseaux and the PACA regional authorities to resolve the current situation and ensure better service to all those who make Monaco what it is.
