Presentation of the "F(ê)aites de la danse" Dance Festival
On Friday 7 April 2017, Patrice Cellario, Minister of Interior, Jean-Luc Biamonti, CEO of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), and Jean-Christophe Maillot, Choreographer and Director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, unveiled the concept and programme of the "F(ê)aites de la danse" ("Let's Dance") festival to the press. The event will take place in the Place du Casino on 1 July.
For the first time in the Principality, the entire Casino district will be transformed into a gigantic open-air dance floor. The programme features a Dance Marathon, giant dance barre, various shows, devilish tarantellas, ballroom dancing, retro dancing, world dances, Hip Hop, Yamakasi and much more!
As well as being a large-scale show, the aim of the event is to invite the public to play a full part in the show and dance with the performers.
Public participation is at the heart of this event, which is co-organised by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Prince's Government and the SBM, who all wish to make this night unforgettable. As Jean-Christophe Maillot pointed out "With the wide variety of shows, concerts, activities and performances of all kinds that we are offering, the 5,000 people expected will be sure to find a good reason to dance. For this special event, the performer-audience relationship has been completely reversed - the dancers aren't just dancing for the audience, they are here to make the audience dance."
From 6 p.m. until dawn, this unique event, which is open to all and free of charge, will be host to artists and professional and amateur dancers, as well as the audience, for a time to share and enjoy music and dance.
