New Ambassador of Principality of Monaco to Republic of Austria presents credentials
H.E. Mr Lorenzo Ravano presented his credentials to the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Mr Alexander Van der Bellen, on Thursday 3 November 2022. He was accompanied on this occasion by First Secretary Mr Jean Laurent Imbert.
The official ceremony was held in Vienna, at the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the official residence of the Austrian President.
During the private meeting which followed the ceremony, the Ambassador first congratulated the President on his re-election in October, and shared his desire to strengthen the bilateral relationship and diplomatic, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The President raised the situation in Ukraine. H.E. Mr Lorenzo Ravano highlighted H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince’s condemnation of the military aggression against Ukraine and confirmed that all sanctions introduced by the European Union were being applied. He then noted the involvement of the Monaco Red Cross and other non-governmental organisations in providing assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainian nationals, some of whom had been welcomed to Monaco.
Finally, the President and the Ambassador reiterated their converging views on the climate issue, as COP27 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is taking place in Sharm el-Sheikh. The Austrian President praised H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince’s personal commitment and the ambitious targets His Government has set on the energy transition. The Ambassador emphasised the role played by the Principality in preserving values and basic freedoms, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
