Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Laurent Anselmi took part in the 6th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean in Barcelona on 29 November 2021. He was accompanied by Christophe Crovetto, Counsellor at Monaco’s Embassy in Spain.

The Forum, which was opened by José Manuel Albares Bueno, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, was attended by foreign ministers and senior representatives from the Union for the Mediterranean’s 42 member states.

The event was co-chaired by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Laurent Anselmi took the opportunity to recall the numerous cooperative actions undertaken by the Principality in the Mediterranean on the environment, climate, sustainable energy and social inclusion to help the most vulnerable.

All of these initiatives support the roadmap established by the Union in 2017 and seek to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Finally, participants emphasised the importance of the Union’s three new ministerial declarations on the blue economy, energy, and environment and climate action. These commitments reflect the initiatives being led by civil society, local authorities and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
