Monaco at United Nations General Assembly for session devoted to 65th IAEA report
On Wednesday 17 November, Jean-Laurent Imbert, First Secretary at the Principality of Monaco’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations, spoke at the General Assembly during a session dedicated to reviewing the 65th report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Mr Imbert recalled the role of nuclear applications and their contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the fight against climate change.
The First Secretary of Monaco’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations also emphasised the importance of the technical, scientific and legal cooperation provided by the IAEA to help tackle new threats, notably in the field of cybersecurity.
Finally, he reiterated the Principality’s support for the IAEA’s work on health and the environment, and highlighted the role of the Environment Laboratories, based in Monaco. The IAEA’s Director General, Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi, visited the Laboratories in September this year to mark the sixtieth anniversary of their establishment.
