Action against illegal fishing: a compulsory annual declaration for line fishing comes into force
In response to a rise in illegal recreational fishing, the Prince's Government has tightened the regulations governing this activity by introducing an 'Annual Line Fishing Declaration', which now applies to anyone wishing to carry out this leisure activity in Monegasque waters.
This declaration must be submitted by post or email to the Department of Maritime Affairs in accordance with the conditions stipulated in Article O.244-8 of the Maritime Code.
There are several ways to obtain the declaration:
- From the Prince's Government website, via the Public Services portal: https://monservicepublic.gouv.mc/thematiques/temps-libre/sports-et-loisirs/autorisations-et-certificats/pratiquer-la-peche-a-la-ligne-a-partir-du-rivage
- Upon request via email to marine@gouv.mc
- Directly from the Department of Maritime Affairs, located at 20, Quai de l'Hirondelle, Monaco, open to the public from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
This declaration is quick and easy to complete and is valid for one year. It is used to identify anyone (adults or children) who wishes to carry out this leisure activity in authorised fishing areas. The declarant will also receive a nautical chart of these areas and the Code of Conduct for recreational shore fishing, to ensure that they are aware of the regulations in force.
For further information, please contact the Department of Maritime Affairs on 98 98 22 80.
