Immersive walk through Mareterra’s public spaces

© Government Communication Department / Manuel Vitali

Enjoy a guided walking tour of Mareterra to learn more about the project, its history and the decisions that have shaped the design of the landscape.

With 800 trees and 35,000 plants spread across 9,400 square metres of green space, the new neighbourhood features a stunning network of fountains with five pools and a reach stretching down from the top of the hill to Larvotto. On the other side, the Japanese Garden has been extended and now has a brand new pagoda.

With a focus on sustainability, innovative infrastructure has been built, including a watering basin that collects rainwater to irrigate green spaces and a retention basin that reduces discharge into the sea.

Then come along and discover two intriguing new spots: the “Blue Grotto”, which offers a unique view inside a “Jarlan caisson” and shows how it acts as a “breakwater”; and the “Meditation Space”, a peaceful haven adorned with quartz, glass and metal that invites contemplation.

During the course of this informative walk offered by the Department of Urban Amenities, you will have the opportunity to chat about how the work was carried out, the challenges encountered and what went on behind the scenes of this fascinating project. It is a unique opportunity for a deep dive into the expertise that has brought this new area of the Principality into being.

Meet at 2 pm on Place Princesse Gabriella in front of Alexandre Calder’s Quatre Lances on the following Wednesdays:

- 26 February
- 5 March
- 12 March
- 19 March

Visits will be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
