IMSEE Publishes a Focus on the Civil Service
The Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE) has just published a Focus on the subject of the Civil Service. This publication shows that, as at 31 December 2016, 4,528 people occupied a post in the Civil Service, representing 8.6% of paid employees in the Principality.
57% of employees in the Civil Service are men, 65% are of French nationality and one in two reside in the Principality. The average age is 43 years and 8 months, but half the workforce are over 45 years of age.
Government Administration and the Commune employ 76% and 15% of the employees respectively; the Ministry of Interior has the largest staff, with 1,873 people (i.e. 54% of employees in Government Administration).
With regard to distribution by sex, 2,594 men and 1,934 women work in the Monegasque Civil Service: 610 men and 777 women occupy category A posts (these positions are occupied by Monegasques at a rate of 46% (this figure was 43 % in 2013).
It should also be noted that most of the workforce live in the Principality (50.2%), but this percentage is decreasing every year in favour of neighbouring towns.
