IFSI students host a workshop on preventing sun-related risks and skin health
As part of their national health service, second-year students at the Institute of Nurse Training (IFSI) hosted a workshop on Wednesday 25 June at the Port Hercule swimming pool on the dangers of sun exposure and how to protect one’s skin.
Organised by Dr Cavalié-Meiffren, a dermatologist at the Princess Grace Hospital, the workshop highlighted key steps to be taken:
- Avoid sun exposure between noon and 4 pm and find shade when possible
- Wear protective clothing such as UV-resistant tops for children
- Apply sunscreen suitable for one’s skin every two hours on a regular basis
The event included interactive and educational discussions with people at the Port Hercule pool with the aim of raising awareness about the risks associated with prolonged exposure to the sun.
Thanks to the workshop, IFSI students were able to create a friendly environment for visitors, who were invited to actively participate and acquired a better understanding of the importance of protecting oneself from the sun on a daily basis.
Future nurses were assisted by Mr Jacques Pastor, the director of their graduating year, along with Ms Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, Director of Princess Grace Hospital.
The initiative reflects the solid commitment of the future health professionals to prevention, well beyond the walls of their institute.
