Following on from the year 2020, in which there was no motor racing on a circuit - events having been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic - the Principality is returning to its normal routine and is getting ready to transform itself in order to host three special Grand Prix from 23 April to 23 May 2021.

The 2021 season promises to be exceptional. Three events are planned - in addition to the traditional Monaco Automobile Grand Prix (Formula 1 and related events), the Monaco Historic Grand Prix and the Monaco E-Prix will be held in the same year, although they usually alternate.

To accommodate this exceptional programme, installation of the facilities, which begins seven weeks before the first events, has been brought forward by approximately fifteen days, as the 2021 Historic Grand Prix will take place on 23 April 2021.

In addition to the annual resurfacing campaigns (see our article on the subject on https://yourmonaco.mc/Article/705), preparatory work for installing the infrastructures required for safety, facilities, television broadcasts, hosting the public and advertising, as well as dedicated access and public walkways will commence on 22 February 2021 with the removal of street furniture by the Department of Urban Amenities (DAU).

Installation work and the related restrictions will begin on 23 February in the port area, and on 31 March in the Monte-Carlo district.

The necessary adjustments to traffic flow and parking bans will be implemented and lifted gradually in accordance with the various areas.

Secure pedestrian walkways will be implemented by the Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM), with manual direction in certain sensitive areas.

Due to the installations, the MonaBike station in the Place Sainte-Dévote will be moved to the Promenade Honoré II from 12 March 2021, and the station in the Parking des Pêcheurs will be moved to another location in this building, still to be confirmed, from 16 April 2021.

Finally, users of the Public Car Parks, as well as users of the Monegasque Bus Company (CAM) and the Azur routes, will be specifically informed of the measures applicable to each phase of installation of the structures.

The 12th Monaco Historic Grand Prix, the 4th Monaco E-Prix and the 78th Monaco Automobile Grand Prix will take place respectively from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 April 2021, Saturday 8 May 2021 and Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 May 2021.
