Covid-19 : Twenty New Positive Cases and One Death on Sunday 19 December

Twenty new positive cases of COVID-19 were identified on Sunday 19 December.

This therefore brings the overall health figures for the Principality to 4,406 people affected by the Coronavirus since the beginning of the health crisis.

Sadly, a 97-year-old resident who tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus has died.  Since the beginning of the COVID-19 health crisis, 37 residents of the Principality have died after contracting the virus.  The Prince's Government reminds you of the importance of being vaccinated against COVID-19. Currently, the vaccine is the most effective way of protecting oneself and others.  Vaccination is available free of charge to Monegasques and residents.

The Prince's Government extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of this person and wishes to assure them of its full support at this time of sorrow.

This evening, 18 people are being treated at Princess Grace Hospital:  12 people, six of whom are residents, are provided in-patient care.  Six other patients, two of whom are residents, are in intensive care.  There are 28 further recoveries to be noted.  The total number of people who have recovered amounts to 4,073.

This Sunday evening, 260 people are being monitored by the Home Patient Follow-up Centre, which provides medical support to people with mild symptoms, who are invited to self-isolate at home.

In line with the practices adopted by the World Health Organization and neighbouring countries in this regard, these daily health assessment figures report only on resident persons affected by the Coronavirus.
