The 10th meeting of the Commission for Franco-Monegasque Cooperation was held in the Principality on 26 January 2018, chaired jointly by H.E. Mr. Maurice Gourdault Montagne, Secretary General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Serge Telle, Minister of State of the Principality.

This Commission, the previous session of which had taken place in May 2016, was established by the Treaty of 24 October 2002, which in particular recalled that the close and special relations between the Principality of Monaco and the French Republic formed part of a "community of destiny."

The Monegasque delegation* was comprised of all the members of the Government, and the Ambassador of Monaco to France.  The French delegation* included the Ambassador of France to Monaco, as well as the Secretary General of the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Sub-Prefect of Nice-Montagne.

The two Parties discussed European prospects since the opening of negotiations on an Association Agreement between the Principality and the European Union, on 18 March 2015 in Brussels.  In particular, they addressed the impact of these negotiations on existing bilateral treaties and points of common interest.

Among other items on the agenda, the Parties discussed topics such as the issue of French nationals in Monaco with regard to housing, payment by Monegasques of the “C.S.G.” and “C. R. D. S” social contributions for their income from property in France, dealing with road traffic offences recorded by automated means, as well as the ways in which Monegasque companies can tender for French public contracts.  The Parties also welcomed the efforts undertaken jointly with regard to the opening of the Beausoleil motorway feeder road.

These constructive discussions, which took place in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding, also focused on health and social issues, such as the opening of the CHPG's new Palliative Care Unit and the possibility of hosting medical interns at the CHPG.  The two delegations also discussed training for unemployed people who live in the Principality and the situation of people in the Principality who are temporarily unemployed.

Finally, the two parties agreed to engage in strategic discussions on strengthening our cross-border cooperation and the future of the Franco-Monegasque residential catchment area.
