Celebrations for Saint Devota's Day – Security Measures

©Direction de la Communication

In connection with the celebrations for Saint Devota's Day on Thursday 26 January 2017, and in view of the current international context, increased security is being implemented this year.

Therefore, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the area extending from the Place Sainte Dévote to No. 9, Avenue du Président J.F. Kennedy, will be closed.

A filtering system will be put in place, giving pedestrian access (a check point with visual inspections), as follows:

(1)  Persons who need to access the Quai des Etats-Unis/Kennedy (participants in the Procession and residents) must present themselves at one of the two entry points:

-          By the side of the "Pattaya" establishment

-          By the side of the Ubaldi establishment (access by pedestrian underpasses)

(2)  Persons wishing to reach the Place Sainte Dévote and the Sainte Dévote Steps should take the following itineraries:

  • Place Ste Dévote:

-          Access via the upper section of the pavement in the Avenue d'Ostende

-          Access via the pedestrian underpasses from the Rue Grimaldi ("Panorama" building), the Avenue d'Ostende (lower section of the pavement – by the sea) and the Boulevard Albert 1er.

  • Sainte Dévote Steps:

-          Access by the passageway by the side of the entrance to the Galerie Sainte Dévote.

N.B.:  It will be forbidden for travellers to journey from or in the direction of the SNCF railway station via the Vallon Sainte Dévote (access is possible from the Galerie Sainte Dévote).
