AMADE and MonacoTech launch TECH 4 CHILD platform

AMADE and MonacoTech are taking advantage of Emerging Valley to launch an initiative to promote child protection and access for children to education and health via digital inclusion.

TECH 4 CHILD is a platform that helps to forge partnerships and develop mobile applications to support children in Africa.

AMADE, a non-governmental organisation that is dedicated to protecting children and helping them to achieve their full potential, is championing access to energy as a tool for development, via digital inclusion, through its Energy of Hope programme.

As part of this programme, AMADE is supporting the development of a selection of mobile applications capable of addressing the challenges that children face, particularly in Africa, in terms of access to education and health, and child protection issues.

The first mobile applications to be supported offer concrete solutions in areas such as literacy, combatting maternal and infant mortality, registering births and preventing sexual violence.

Bolstered by a network of partners (NGOs, incubators, entrepreneurs, investors, etc.) and encouraging initial results, but also aware of the challenges to be overcome in terms of sustainability, impact and ensuring consistency among a variety of stakeholders, AMADE came up with the Tech 4 Child initiative with support from Monegasque incubator MonacoTech.

Tech 4 Child is an open platform which aims to:

  • Encourage networking, sharing of expertise, synergy and the establishment of partnerships between stakeholders involved in the ecosystem
  • Identify, initiate and develop mobile applications and digital content that address the issues identified
  • Test the mobile applications developed in the field
  • Identify sustainable economic models that enable the mobile applications and content produced to be disseminated as widely as possible

The Tech 4 Child ecosystem includes the following stakeholders:

  • Entrepreneurs and innovative start-ups in the development phase
  • Partner incubators, including those based in Africa
  • Mobile communications operators
  • Financial partners: impact investment funds, private banks, philanthropists, etc.
  • Experts in the field of social entrepreneurship
  • Foundations, NGOs

AMADE is an organisation committed to protecting children and helping them to achieve their full potential.

Founded in 1963 at the initiative of Princess Grace of Monaco, AMADE is based on a vision of a world where all children, regardless of their social, religious or cultural background, can live in safety and in dignity, and have their basic rights respected. A world where all children have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

AMADE helps to make these commitments a reality by setting itself the following goals:

  • Protect the most vulnerable children from violence, exploitation and abuse
  • Help children to achieve their potential by promoting access to education
  • Provide assistance during emergency or post-emergency situations
  • Support change by raising public awareness and engaging in advocacy
